The result:
With the Sony and MTX amps coupled with the 4-volt output of the Sony
head unit, the system yields suprising clarity at cranium-crushing sound levels.
This system easily can put out more sound than anybody could comfortably listen
to, and since I don't compete with it, that's plenty for me. The Infinity (front)
speakers aren't installed yet, so imaging and seperation are near zero.
Since I built the system I've been disappointed with the results of my
isobaric setup. My previous system was stolen, and I went with a "bigger is
better" approach, which didn't work. The system was a nightmare to seal, and
always had a 100-120Hz resonance that I just couldn't get rid of, although
stuffing the box and adding the Vario-Vent helped quite a bit.
The goal is to replace my current setup with a more aesthetic system, and
get rid of the Pyle subs and replace them with two 10" MTX Thunder 7000s. Since
this is no longer my only vehicle, I can dedicate the entire hatch area to the
system, which will look much better and help handling (which was twitchy on
hard turns with 250+lbs of speakers behind the rear wheels).
