Captain Jack
Inspired by the Iced Fudge ripple.
Ingredients:
- 2 quarts strong coffee
- 3/4 cup Ghiardelli powdered chocolate mix
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (don't use imitation)
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- Optional: Jack Daniels' whisky
- Half and Half
Brew the coffee using two filters (to make it stronger).
If you have one, an iced coffee/iced tea maker works fine too.
Add the 3/4 cup of chocolate mix. The Ghiardelli mix works much
better than cocoa, and has sugar in the mix. Don't use any mix that
has non-sugar sweeteners (corn syrup, dextrose, etc.). Add the
vanilla and almond extracts, and stir. A blender can be helpful.
Pour the mixture into a glass and add half and half and Jack Daniels'
to taste. The rippling effect of the half and half gives a nice
presentation.
This recipe is the result of years of careful research to find
the perfect balance of flavors. Any feedback is welcomed. If this
seems like a hell of a lot of trouble to make a beverage, well, it's
worth it.
