Real Player

I saw this one day on a user's PC.  My first thought was, "What the hell did this guy install?  What's this blinking blue 'i' in his system tray?" I mouse over it, to see the screenshot below.

So I double click on the 'i' and voila, the culprit has shown it's face!  Like I couldn't tell something this obnoxious was from RealPlayer.

So I said to myself, "I bet I can speed up his computer 300% all by myself without any help from RealPlayer."

To do that, step through the following instructions:

  1. If RealPlayer isn't already open, open it by selecting it from the Start menu, or double clicking one of the annoying RealPlayer icons in your system tray.
  2. Under View, Select Preferences
  3. On the General tab, look for a section entitled "StartCenter".  Click the Settings button under StartCenter.
  4. On the StartCenter Settings tab, if there is a check next to Enable StartCenter, uncheck it.
  5. When a popup window appears asking you to reconsider RealPlayer's "benefits" and asks you if you're sure you want to do this, click YES
  6. Click OK until you are back to the main RealPlayer window.
  7. Then close the damned thing.

That's the best way I know to speed up your computer up to 300%!
